3.5 stars.
Came here for tea and cake on a Sunday afternoon, and we were seated without a reservation but only had the table for an hour.
Place was super busy, and the service was kind of slow at the start, but the order came right away once we placed it. The Apfelstrudel (apple cake) is delicious. If I just had to rate it individually, it would have been 5 stars !Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype User (Ernst_…)Hamburg, Germany46629 Oct 2010
There can't be many good excuses not to visit Café Grundmann when in Leipzig. The reason for this stern piece of advice is simple: this café oozes charm, as well as character, and is one of those places one doesn't find around any corner, or even in every large city.
If you have a working set of eyes, the delightful art déco interior should be enough to make you happy for quite a while. If you like tea, you should be pleased to hear that Café Grundmann serves a very decent small pot of Earl Grey. If you don't care about food or architecture, you may as well just bathe in the wonderful atmosphere only an authentic location with proper history can offer. Thankfully, its humble and sober nature means Café Grundmann isn't overcrowded with hipsters, but home to a decidedly mixed bunch of guests.
Whenever I return to Leipzig in the future, a visit to Café Grundmann shall be mandatory.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
