We had a wonderful meal last night at the Coach and Lantern! Our server Christa went above and beyond ...she was so delightful and accommodating!
Highly recommend...

Such a gem with friendly staff and great food. They have a cute patio area. The portion is very generous. Their Irish Style Nacho with homemade potato chips is one of a kind. I really enjoyed this after a good hiking around Dundas Valley Conservation.

Traditional pub fare. Often crowded. Cozy. Prices are a little high, but that's Ancaster - too much money, not enough discrimination where quality is concerned. Good music venue most evenings. A unique spot.

Food is decent and service is good. The tables are incredibly small and sometimes I feel like I don't have enough room to eat but it's the English Pub Vibe. Kid friendly for sure!

Made a reservation two days in advance for my wedding anniversary dinner requesting a certain spot that I had seen reserved before. Just before our reservation, it had rained so the patio customers had to come inside so when we arrived, I was offered a different spot. I asked, "What's the point of a reservation if your seats are not reserved?" Two other people were in our reserved spot just having drinks, no food yet. There were 4-5 other tables available. They said they only take "requests" not reservations. We asked to talk to a manager but there was no manager working, explaining the lack of leadership. We decided to leave. They said we could call the owner, which we did. The owner called us back and said we were in the wrong. Unbelievably horrible service.

Upstairs room booked for party. The room is warm and inviting....BUT.... People from previous booking were still allowed to stay and drink ten minutes before our event was to start, leaving us in a mad rush to put up decorations.
$85 sandwich platter said 50 pieces....but what they failed to tell us was that each bun, instead of being cut in halves were sliced in FIVE, finger sized pieces. Ridiculous.
Two items that were ordered did not appear. General manager challenged me when I brought it up the next day, saying I didn't order the bruschettas until I referred to the email that clearly showed her mistake.
Waitress was good... friendly and efficient. I had to order more food when I saw what came out. Wings were good....everything else was "meh"Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 23 Aug 2018
Historic building in the old Ancaster Village. Great ambiance - if you like an old style British pub. We went on a weekday, so didn't encounter heavy crowds. We had a place that was half full. Service was fantastic; regular check-ins without being overbearing. There were a variety of specials. The dishes we chose were standard pub fare - can't attest to the other "non-pub" food. The steak pie was out of this world and in line with what I've had in the UK. The fish and chips was crispy on the outside and light and flaky on the inside. Full bar; prices are reasonable. We split desserts in that they are big enough for 2 people.
So... get a drink, have standard pub fare, enjoy the ambiance - and enjoy!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 29 May 2016
The service here is pretty good but the layout is far too squished. You feel like you're on top of each other. The place gets pretty busy by 5:00 on a Saturday evening. And then very noisy. God help you if you are here and the band playing. Can anyone provide earplugs?
Fish and chips is pretty good but they don't give you much. Prices seem a bit too high here. Not good value for what you get.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Robert L.Fort Lauderdale, United States7842815823 Oct 2016
What an amazing place this was i Ancaster. I got my 2 minutes of fame where I got up to sing and entertain the crowd. the newbie as they called me being from out of town and everyone seem to know each other.
Great ambiance, service and food too...felt so UKish. Can't wait to go backHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Arlan B.Mississauga, Canada193282326612 May 2018
We originally went because there were rumours of this being a haunted pub. We were lucky to walk in to a blue matinee performance by the Coachmen and special guests Harrison Kennedy and Jesse O'Brien. The food was great... Service was excellent... and we even had that eerie sensation that there was a spirit there.
