Strange places casinos, I don't just mean the lack of time that you feel locked away from any hint of sunlight or clocks but they are places of great deception. No, not the slight of hand or odds stacked in their favour but they always try and pretend to be more glamorous than they are.

Monte Carlo must be to blame for this reputation that everyone within a casino is a potential James Bond or Prince of Monaco when in actual fact they almost always seem to be chip shop owners parlaying that night's takings!

I know that I was very drunk when my mate coerced our group to join the Circus Casino as a good way to end the night but it did seem to be making a good effort at trying to be clean and bright with friendly staff and a surprisingly busy restaurant with many women in attendance even if it couldn't quite manage glamorous. However the lounge singer act was less Vegas and more Blackpool.

It was the first time I ever entered a casino last night. I am not a serious gambler but it was an interesting new experience. So when I arrived at reception, I filled out a registration card where they asked for personal details and a form of ID which I gave as my passport. My face photo was taken using the CCTV camera and a membership card issued to me straight away which was all a quick and easy process. The girl at reception did not give muh of a welcome nor made much eye contact but was not rude.

Inside, there is a fancy restaurant and a small bar as well as a number of tables serving poker, roulette and other card games. In addition, there are lots of slot and roulette machines as you would expect. There are a number of helpful staff on hand if you also require any assistance.

For me, not a place I would usually go but if you're a big or small gambler and like this form of entertainment, its a great night out at Circus Casino.

As I was walking past one cold afternoon, I saw a poster in the window advertising a very cheap 2-for-1 meal deal at Circus Casino. I immediately recruited booked a table and recruited.

The woman on reception was lovely and chatty and I kinda didn't want to go back out into the rain, but I did. The next night I returned and vowed to keep my eyes averted from the casino end of the building as we were shown into the restaurant part. Casting a look around, it seemed to be mainly people on business dinners, which didn't bother me. The service was good although the food was slow, and although I wanted to chew my own arm off by the time it arrived, it was worth the wait and I could've eaten all of it a second time.

The only thing that spoiled the experience was that I was freezing. Apparently there was a smoker's area upstairs and people kept leaving the door open, meaning a horrific draft kept hitting me square between the shoulder blades. It really did ruin my evening, and when the maitre d' came over to apologise I wanted to make her stand behind me for shelter!

Still, it was a nice restaurant, staff were polite and the fact that we were overlooking the casino didn't infringe on our meal at all.

Loved my night at the Circus, we originally just fancied somewhere different for a meal and noticed the restaurant as we looked through the window so we went in and booked a table for the following weekend.
The restaurant was very busy, but the service was still quick and the food to a very high standard.
There was also a singer in the restaurant while we had our meal.
We were given a free £10 bet for the gambling tables, (which i won with)

i had never been to a casino before I so was pleasanlty surprised at how much of a BUZZ there was around the place. The staff were very helpful and friendly when explaining the best way to play.
Obviously you have pre-conceived idea of casino's but once through the doors, you realise that this place offers alot more than just somewhere to spend your hard earned wages :)

Plenty of games to try, electric roulette machines and slot machines which you could play on for a penny!!!! Although feeling adventurous i played at 40p a spin instead.

I am planning on booking for my birthday in March as there is also a hypnotist on and hopefully he can give me some winning numbers for roulette or maybe the Euro Millions :)

Great night and a real eye opener into what casino's are really like.
