Interesting pub with lots of items (some would say tat) all over the walls: little stuffed animals, porcelain figures, toys, etc. There's a main pub room in front of the bar, a dining room to one side, and a beer garden in the back.
They had a disconcertingly large menu, though. They'd written out in great detail what each dish comprised and where the ingredients were from which made the whole menu extend over several blackboards. I had to walk around the pub to see everything on offer, which put me off a bit as it made ordering a bit confusing and time-consuming.
The food was quite good, though. They have a full range from sandwiches and jacket potatoes up to grilled fish and beef stroganoff. And they seem to use a lot of local produce (my steak and ale pudding was made in the nearby village of Biddenden, for example).
There's a small car park hidden in back, reachable from the small lane to the left of the pub.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Thomas A.London, United Kingdom1184825717 Oct 2012First to Review
This might be the only pub in Headcorn, I actually tried to check-in but Yelp didn't believe that I was outside of London...
We were venturing out for a Virgin Balloon flight which they cancelled far too close to the launch time so we were already off the train... what's there to do in Headcorn? Well, from the looks of it, you can go here or go home, so go here we did!
Not the cheapest pints considering I was hoping for a small town price list, but they had some local brews. Food was looking a little on the pricey side as well, but everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves (we were just on drinks!)
I'll be sure to stop here if I'm ever in Headcorn again... because I think this is kind of it.

We have been to this pub about four times in 2009. I must agree with Timinator the menu is a little overbearing with it written on blackboards all round the eating/bar area. However do not let this put you off.The selection of food is varied and nicely presented. This is and oldy worldy pub with odd items on show. The seating on some chairs is hard, however many seats have cushions.
Staff are helpful and have some knowledge about the food.Good selections of wines beers including local English wines cidar and perrys. It has two large real open log fires. Also there is another car park opposite behind Sainsbury supermarket although you do have to pay.A pub with good food but not cheap.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype User (pressf…)Tenterden, United Kingdom21520 Apr 2011
Called in on the spur of the moment on a Tuesday evening and was pleasantly surprised. It was not very busy (a large party of French holidaymakers was just finishing up) but even so we were surprised at how quickly we were served. Choosing was a little tricky; we had to keep getting up to peer at the blackboards for the specials and there were also printed menus on several separate sheets it all got a bit confusing; I completely ovelooked the grills section. Nevertheless our food arrived in no time at all and was excellent; I had a lamb shank and my wife had scampi. Everything was piping hot (they didn't neglect to warm the plates) and the veg were served in a novel and most tasty fashion. The surroundings were a bit odd knick-knacks all over the place, majoring on old clocks and teddy bears not a inch of space left uncrowded with random bits and pieces. The dining room(s) had the appearance of being someone's crazy living room rather than a restaurant. Staff were extremely pleasant and perfectly willing to have a nice chat. The food prices were not too over the top for the affluent south east but the cost of the beer did take my breath away...
