They have all the basics you might need when you can't get to the grocery as well as Amazon lockers. Sure it's pricey but what do we expect? It's a small business trying to survive in Portland. Grateful they're here.

Having a snack attack? Ya, I get those sometimes too. Thankfully, this place exists, so I can satisfy my salty, cheese, and/or chocolately cravings. I just wish they had PB Snickers. Oh well, I'll make due with the Doritos, Cheetos and Smart Food white cheddar popcorn. On top of that, they have a lot of basic household and kitchen items if you're in a pinch--not cheap, but it's there if you need it. Also, arguably the best selection of Ben & Jerry's and other ice creams I've ever seen. Super nice service, too!

Nu-Rite-Way is a small neighborhood convenient store that carries all your last minute needs. They got tampons, boxed wine, malt liquor, pringles, red vines, Chef Boyardee (hey, don't judge me!) and all sorts of useful stuff. The people that run this place are friendly and quick with check out.
Yeah, you can say this place is a life saver.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Fannie S.Pensacola, United States3018561169 Oct 2016
Clean and easy to walk through place.
Super friendly clerk. Very helpful too. She apologized for not having a bigger bag for my box of Blue Star donuts. She gave me an extra bag and I tried anyway. It fit, mostly. :D
I've been in SF for too long...because my jaw dropped when I saw that 4 bottles of water (1 liter 33.8 oz) and a 20 oz Coke was for under $10.00. (No CRV in OR!)
Prices = reasonable. I spent $9.85 for 5 drinks.
Thanks for the awesome rec from the lovely clerk at The Meadow!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mac J.Portland, United States0414 Jan 2018
Good spot for late night, last minute grocery. Nice employees and owners.. However, be prepared to pay 2-3x more than if you were to just go to Fred Meyers. Also have found myself on multiple occasions going in the morning and the store won't be open at the times posted. If you walk down at 9am, expect to wait 10-20min before the doors actually open.

I love the Nu-Rite. I realize this might sound strange to some people, but when I first moved to the neighborhood, this is the place that made me feel the most at home, and was the most welcoming to me of all the Mississippi establishments.
The store's selection of goods is truly various and vast for a convenient store. Chances are, whatever you're looking for, they probably have it or a variation of it. Toilet paper? Check. Tin foil? Check. Salsa and Juanitas? Check & mate. They have a pretty decent selection of beer and wine here too. They have milk, ice cream, medicine- really, everything you may need last minute and hope that the convenient store across the street has. They even have deli foods that I've never ordered, but the owner has told me that a bunch of people actually do purchase the deli food. Fun fact: this is one of the oldest, still running establishments on Mississippi, and the owner once showed me the original walk-in fridge from when the Nu-Rite was a full scale deli. Now the owner just uses the walk in fridge to store surplus fridge items (not just deli items).
About the owners- they are awesome. I believe the place is owned by a husband/wife team, and they are both really nice, friendly, accommodating, and willing to help you out if they can. There are a few other people who work at the store, who are definitely not as cool as this husband/wife team. But, two people can't run the store 8-11pm 7 days a week. Since I buy beer from here quite often, the owner sometimes asks me for new beers that they should start carrying. I thought that was really awesome of him to ask, and I definitely gave him some suggestions.
Nu-RIte is everything you would want your neighborhood convenient store to be. If only they could all be this sweet.Helpful 12Thanks 0Love this 15Oh no 0 - Holy-foo' X.Portland, United States651084121 Apr 2012
Nu-Rite-Way..... for a Nu Gentrified Yuppy paradise! You gotta give it to 'em... they have thrived in a hood were few if any stop-n-shops have been able to. Let's see, a quick review, for anyone interested in a little bit of history in this neighborhood:
7-11. Do you have any idea how hard it is to chase off, let alone kill a 7-11 (Albina and Portland Blvd--err, Rosa Parks)? Three in NE Portland were KIA, early 1980-something, 60th and Killingsworth, 33rd and Killingsworth, and this one. Didn't re-open elsewhere, didn't relocate anywhere in No-Po...apparently they ran for their lives. Too bad Craigs List and ebay weren't around back then, you might've been able to buy their slurpee machines, etc, dirt-cheap...
AM-PM Arco-- Albina & Ainsworth. KIA , late 1980-something. I used to go to the Pitman Wrestling Club there in Peninsula Park, and would sometimes get gas there. They actually had bullet-proof glass surrounding the cashier, as is commonly seen in LA and other much bigger cities. Fat lotta good it did; owners/managers again grabbed their valuables and headed for the hills.
Bee-Company--Albina and Killingsworth, KIA1990-something. Discount brands, super cheap-o grade-z discount mart. This store existed back when no sensible person would park any car they cared about anywhere near this intersection.
That leaves us...Nu-Rite-Way! If there ever was a championship belt, it was long ago vacated/forfeited. But shoot, until something better, that stays open later comes along, all hail the champs of the Newfangled Mississippi...Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Drake S.Portland, United States3950517 Jun 2015
Consistently friendly and helpful staff makes every shopping experience I have at Nu-Rite an enjoyable one. Whether I'm stopping by on a Sunday to pick up much-needed toilet paper after a weekend's festivities have drained my supply or stumbling through during said festivities, yelling garbled attempts at Korean greetings and thank-yous and indecisively contemplating the array of crunchy snack options, the person at the counter is always tolerant and smiling. They have a pretty good beer selection that runs a shade cheaper than the bottle shops up the street and a great selection of other goods, more than I expected at a convenience store. You're not going to get Safeway prices here but if you only need a few items, the slight markup is worth the saved time.

If your wallet is empty, but you find a must-have vinyl treat at Mississippi Records, this is the most convenient place to get quick cash. They have one of those "cash ticket machines" which you can use to get up to $40 for a convenience fee of $1.50. You don't even hafta buy anything, but they do have all varieties of Four Loko if you really wanna swerve off the rails.

worst selection EVER. The people working are always friendly but for a store that is meant to be convenient its anything but. They have what looks like a broken ice case (former meat display case?) that has a limited selection of onions, peppers and cheese. There seems no rhyme or reason to what they stock and what they dont.
