I watched the premiere when Hulu had it available a few weeks ago, but didn't want to post anything until it officially premiered last night.

While I recognized many screen shots of the city, there were a few I didn't.

    A few impressions:

a.) Shelby Bridge: Not sure if that's somewhere people go for a walk on, or if that's mainly a tourist attraction. There were quite a few shots of it, not to mention Rayna and Deacon had their walk and heart-to-heart conversation on it.

b.) Music Row: I like the shout out to her record label being called "Edgehill". Nice touch.

c.) Bluebird Cafe: I heard that they built an exact replica of the place and that some of the workers are in the show. I've never been, but now I have to bookmark it as a place to try.

d.) I like that the show is soap opera-ish. When politics are involved, I generally tune out. But Rayna's dad is a nice antagonist to have. And Juliette is someone I want to hate (although they do kick in the meth mom for the sympathy factor).

e.) Gunnar is supposed to represent hipster Nashville types. I truly didn't know they existed here. I guess I will now have to check out East Nashville or this "Five Points" area.

f.) I may not listen to country music, but I'm glad the show doesn't have the characters suddenly break out into songs like they do on "Glee". The music is very well placed.

g.) And yay for Chip Esten! I loved him on "Whose Line is it Anyway?" Glad to see his more dramatic side as Deacon.

h.) Hayden Panettiere and Connie Britton. Powers Booth.

i.)  I know there were a few cameos of some local celebrities/country stars, but I wouldn't recognize them.

I didn't know what to expect from this show. But the fact that I'm more curious about the locations I have yet to experience here probably means people who don't live here would be, too. I genuinely liked what I saw in the pilot and I can't wait to see more episodes. Maybe I'll apply to be an extra.

The Shelby bridge is both I guess. It's also mainly for convenience. A way to get from side to side, as all bridges are I guess. :) They also hold events on there.
I haven't watched the show yet (recorded it) but I'm excited to see all the locations they used. I hate country music so I'm hoping I can look past it and enjoy the show.
Hipsters ARE real and yes, they are bountiful in East Nashville/5 Points. :)

Maybe I ought to change the subject line to "Where to spot Nashville Hipsters".

I didn't see the show, but I walk across the Shelby Bridge all the time.

    I even reviewed it!

Speaking of hipsters, good god, The Shins concert @ the Ryman was rife with them (unsurprisingly).  I got a kick out of the fact that there were three girls in the rows in front of me who unironically had the exact same giant-ass horn-rim frames.  Someone even rounded them up and got a picture of them.  If nothing else, I certainly got some great ideas for my Halloween costume.

Here's an interesting article from the Nashville Business Journal that discusses the business and commerce aspects tied to the show:

I laughed out loud when they said they weren't full for the open mic night at the Bluebird and asked if anyone in the audience wanted to play. Like that would ever happen there!

It also hit close to home when Rayna had her "diva dip" during band rehearsal. I've worked with singers like that over the years, but most of them don't handle those situations with such a level head.

And I completely support the idea of having viewing parties along with the Nashville Scene's drinking game!

I heard that Drifters was having a viewing party with half price drinks last night. Not sure if that will be a reoccurring thing... but it should be!

And anybody that actually played the drinking game would have been dead 5 minutes in! nashvillescene.com/count…

@Brenda - We totally should do a viewing party complete with drinking game... who else is game???

that gunnar dude is not hipster at all. they probably wouldn't even let him into barista parlor and i doubt he rides a bicycle stacked on top of another bicycle.

i dislike network television and this one is pretty typical of a crappy network drama but it was cool to see nashville plastered all over my tv so i'll keep watching.

I was reading this recap and its comments: nashvillescene.com/count…

and thought that it would be great to see Juliette try her charms in Sam's Sushi Bar. I've never been, but my husband has. Not to mention that Yelpers have described the owner as quite a character.

Work schedule permitting, I am most definitely interested in a viewing party drinking game. Especially if the crowd would be as entertaining as this thread has proved to be.

Before I even finished reading Paul's comment I was thinking there needs to be a viewing party. And I love that you said c**t in a Yelp thread. :) About to watch the episode now.....

Anyone catch that Rayna was wearing a Loveless Cafe t-shirt? I thought the show was pretty entertaining but I'm still mostly interested due to the fact it's filmed and takes place here. If it was some other city I probably wouldn't watch it.

I was surprised to find out that the actor playing Gunnar is actually British. And that the woman playing Scarlett is actually Australian.

Can any Nashville or Southern native clue me in on how their American accents came across?

Thanks for the heads up Dan M!

Did anyone catch the 2nd episode? I checked it out last night on ABC.com and have to admit that I'm a bit hooked. Reminds me when I was a kiddo and my mom would watch Dallas or Knots Landing. The funny thing is shoulder pads are back again too...

I used to rip out all my shoulder pads and stuff them in my bra. :) On a different note, I liked seeing the 5 Spot in last weeks episode. And I like how they accurately showed how freaking HOT it gets in there during a show! Ugh!

I flipped it on last night to see some guy getting in fist flight in his boots outside of Tootsies. Hell yeah. Parking lot fights very southern very nashville. *rolling my eyes* also - all the images are 'soft' like soap opera looking - is that just me?

They have sucked me in now so I'm still watching. I'm liking the drama around if reyna is gonna hook up with her ex again. And now her hubby's had an affair with a chick played by brad paisleys wife (isn't that her?). I likes the cheap dramas!

I didnt think I would enjoy this show because I hate country music, but I am actually enjoying it. My fiance actually has joined me and enjoyed it too. I love how they make Nashville look so beautiful. I guess because I have lived here all my life I never knew it could be looked at in such a great way. Maybe this will bring in the tourist! My fiance thinks its cool that they have places on the show he has actually stepped foot it. He isnt from TN so this is pretty cool to him.  The Blue Bird and where we had our first date, the 5 spot. Hayden Panettiere's character is a real you know what but I love her! I fell in love with Connie Britton when I saw her in American Horror Story and its great to see her in this show as well. I am a definite fan! What a great way to show off our city in a positive light!

I'm late to the party, and have not been watching. Sounds interesting though; perhaps I should check it out. I'm afraid the overly Southern accents would make me crazy. Heck, some natives here don't have much of a drawl. Perhaps they're influenced by the many  transplants that now call Nashville home?

On a side note, I've been known to act a fool on Shelby Street bridge at least once a year while taking some ridiculous photos, AND own a Loveless Cafe tee. "got biscuits?"
    Hahahahaha!

I've always said the only way not to like pop music is not to listen to it. It has a way of sucking you in then next thing you know you're humming call me maybe in the shower one morning.

I feel the same way about this show. I know it's pretty bad but now I'd rather keeping riding it out than stop watching.
