Ok laaaa. Had the basil leaves pork with rice because it reminded me of ns. My outfield sergeant aslc was on kanchananburi thailand; I didn't really want to wait 30 mins for wanton noodles nearby so I just went for the open one.
The pork rice was so so. The kang kong was ok i guess. O well i guess I'm not fulky satisfied but I have 30 more minutes of my life :P
I'd call that a quasi-phyrric victory.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Rupak G.Singapore0464916 Jul 2012First to Review
I'm always on the lookout for a good thai food because when i find that one special place, i'm going there every weekend. I popped into Lavendar food square and came across Somboon thai food through which I had to find out if she was the one. A very friendly woman convinced me, without much effort, to order something and i got the olive rice. Be warned that what you see on the menu is not what you see on your plate. First of all, in the menu this dish is shown, as rice on a round plate with multiple components such as minced meat, onions, cashew nuts and chillies neatly placed around the bowl of rice. When i got my food, the plate was rectangle and everything was mixed rather than separated making it more of a fried rice. The cashew nuts in this rice were lovely. They gave a great variation to the flavor of the rice. The rice and the minced meat chicken however had a very strong, salty taste that was acceptable yet just on the borderline of being a bit too much. There was a weird after taste at the end of the meal. Sadly Somboon was not my true love and so the search must continue. It will pass for an acceptable meal.
