There was a restaurant we found on Google. It incredible reviews and a Risotto and scallop dish that we were dying to try. It was walking distance from our hotel so we set out to get something to eat there. To our disappointment we were informed once we got there, that the kitchen didn't open until 7 PM. It was around 4:30 when we got there, and so we had to turn back around and look for a place to eat and that is when we came across Cafe de Phares. It didn't have glowing reviews on yelp but we were cold and the place seemed alright.
I ordered a French onion soup and quiche with salad, Our waiter did his very best to speak in English to us as we do not speak a lick of French.
The onion soup was just all right, it didn't seem homemade, just something they got out of a bag or a distributor house, I could tell, but the quiche was amazing best quiche have ever had. It came wait a green salad, my husband ordered salmon, it was Asian style so he got sautéed vegetables that he didn't like, we swapped my salad out for his veggies and that actually went very well with my quiche I was very pleased. Service was also very good, Like I said our waiter made an effort to speak to us in our language which I always appreciate. The only thing I can say is that in the outside sitting area are a lot of smokers and some of the smell comes into the restaurant, but other than that everything was very good.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Natalya B.New York, United States6882136828 Nov 2019

I just had a cappuccino, beautiful presentation, not hot, good service. I was stressed... Had my passport and wallet stolen yesterday in the Paris metro. So I wasnt eating.
But my companion had the brunch breakfast and it looked amazing... Photo here...
This place is right on place de bastille. Near metro station.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 782376812312 Sept 2019
Great people (and vehicle, if that's your thing) watching at Bastille. Service is friendly even though it's a busy spot.

The perfect café for anyone staying in the Bastille neighborhood.
People watching, non-rushed service, scrumptious food, what more could one ask for.
We stayed within walking distance and came to this circle by accident, and glad we are that we did. First went in just for drinks and they surprised us with great margaritas. Not at all heavy on sugar and each sip tasting of freshly squeezed fruit.
So of course the next day we came back for the breakfast. Ordered French toast and vegetable omelette. A treat for the eyes and the taste buds. Being an American I didn't even think French toast could look so different. The toast was so light and melted the minute you put it in your mouth yet it gained weight with the syrup, yet not becoming too heavy. The omelette was just perfect. Not overly cooked and enough juices to make it fluffy.
The only negatives:
1- the omelette wasn't served with bread.
2- it was great people watching but that also came with a little noise.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 3517826238 Nov 2011
We were staying in the 4th arr. during our recent visit. We would stroll by several times a day and finally decided to stop. Food & service were both good, Prices were fair. Steaks were cooked to order and the wine included in the formules was decent. People watching was fun and we never felt rushed.
I would not hesitate in returning.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Vanessa M.Paris, France13707814 Aug 2014
Perfect place for ducking into for a bite to eat when it's raining in Paris. The lovely location in Bastille doesn't hurt either.
I had an amazing salad topped with goat cheese and drizzled in a balsamic vinaigrette. Also, loads of bread. Always. My friend proclaimed that she had the best vegetarian lasagna of her life (yes, I tried it, it was delicious).
Stop by if you're in Bastille and in the mood for some people watching!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Pete A.Ewa Beach, United States01626 Sept 2017
Not our best choice. Ordered fries and they came late and did the sauce. Asked for tap water and got charged 5 euros for a bottle of Evian. You can do better elsewhere.
