      Had a great experience here.

I went for the full service eye test, where they take snapshots of your retina and give you a 3D scan to look for any issues like glaucoma.

Had a traditional eye test too.

Sabrina was excellent and the team was fast. The price for the full set of tests was $105 and I felt it was good value as well.

Haven't bought glasses or other such from here, but the service and quality out-did anything I've seen in the U.S.

      Would recommend.

What an exceptional optician Alex is: kind, caring and genuinely interested in eyecare. I bought my prescription lenses - Progressives - and frame online and was concerned my pupil distance might have been incorrectly calculated (turns out it just takes a bit of time to get used to this style of varifocal lens):

First I popped in to Optique 20/20 across the road and a more unhelpful, cold and rude a response to my request for an optician to check my glasses for this I have yet to encounter (I started by offering to pay for this service and was promptly shown the door - horrible!). Then I (shakily, admittedly) tried The Eye Place - and the difference was like night and day.

Alex was immediately welcoming and warm: he made not one but three tests to ensure where the pupil distance was on my lenses, and also checked them on my face before giving them a clean bill of health. When I offered to pay him for his time and attention, he waved me off with a smile.

An optician of excellence and a thorough gentleman - Thank you!

Alex(the optician)has always had an interest in the latest eye testing technology. The equipment he has is really only usually available within a specialist clinic and also he is very experienced in interpretation of those images. For example he has the latest updated "Opto-map machine that looks in fine detail at your retinas.
Also the OCT Machine with looks at your optic nerve and gives a 3D image so it can really be checked in detail. Its not cheap for these tests but if you think about it,you cannot get this level of specialist equipment combined with Alex,s experience. As far as I know in London ONLY TWO opticians have this level of equipment. It costs £60 for both, but then if you paid a specialist eye doctor to look at you then he would have to order the tests separately, then your looking at HUNDREDS of pounds.
So why pay an Optician for very standard tests and standard photos when you can have a detailed exam using the very best and latest up to date technology?.
I cannot afford Glasses here(hey its Belsize park!)so I will go to spec-savers for my specs. But for an exam, this guy is the best.

Nice decor to distract from poor quality glasses. Specsavers - ala "Made in Chelsea". Good for people with too much money and not very good taste who want to pay for overpriced goods.

A very cool boutique opticians. I went there recently for an optomap eye test, which can detect so much more than an ordinary eye exam. They have a gorgeous selection of frames too and I ended up buying a couple of pairs! Thumbs up from me!
