The new owners of this chestnut have definitely brought their 'A' game! The food quality and flavors are absolutely delicious! We now have a place over in Daytona/Port Orange that rivals anything we can find for dim sum in Orlando or Miami, and we couldn't be more pleased. The siu mai, the shrimp dumplings, bean curd skin with pork, and pan fried chive dumplings were bursting with flavor and freshness. Sign us up for more-we'll be back regularly!
Had a saloman roll appetizer which was interestingly tasty. But service was quite slow, even though there were only two tables occupied. Soup and salad didn't come till after we had already finished our appetizers and the sushimi delux had already come to our table. Food quality: the yellowtail sushimi was still just this side of frozen in the center and tasted a bit off. Clearly not fresh. Salmon was pretty good. Overall, kind of a meh experience, sad to say-we had high hopes cause it's close by and reasonably priced. Guess it's back to Ronan for us!
It feels like this DSW has cut corners to the point it has really lost its magic for us. Not a fantastic selection, and the prices just don't seem to be any better than we can get online or elsewhere. And to make it worse. After spending nearly $300 with them, they then asked us: "would you like to buy a bag, or carry out? We don't offer bags anymore." Hmmm, okayyyyy.
After watching my wife drop her loose pieces, we stopped in another store, where they felt so bad they gave us two bags. Now...which of these retail stores do you think will get our loyalty next time?
DSW used to be a hip, customer-focused, deal-infused place to go vs. other retailers. I think they are trying to cut their way to growth--never a good strategy, and we are feeling it as customers.
Pretty sure this is our last visit to this store for long time, if ever. Hope you enjoy the $.05 you saved on bags.
Okay if you do t try the lobster ravioli here, you are missing out in Miami! Marvin was perfectly gentile, pleasant, and the consummate professional server. But omg that SAUCE!! Plus the atmosphere was just lovely for a night out on the strip in South Beach. Do not miss that sauce-it might change your life. And create problems with your wife when you say it is better than hers. Or so I've heard, certainly would t be my own experience. Ahem. But try it!!
Honestly, not one complaint. I had the shrimp and scallops and was blown away...the smokey grilled overtones and a REALLY good seasoning made this one of the best scallop dinners I've had in Daytona Beach. I could seriously start craving this one. Yeah I know it's not fair to take a pic after you've eaten a couple of them, but hey. My wife had the salmon salad and said they cooked the salmon perfectly (it's soooo easy to over-cook and dry it out). Prices weren't ridiculous, so we'll be coming back!
